Use field shortcuts in Base

I. Intro
Field shortcuts allow you to create specialized fields for different business scenarios in Base. With field shortcuts, you can quickly build a table that covers all your objectives and processes.
There are two types of field shortcuts: AI and formula. Formula field shortcuts use preset formulas designed for different use cases, allowing for quick calculations even for complex scenarios.
II. Steps
  1. Open the base and click the table in the left navigation pane.
  1. In the grid view of the table, click the + icon on the right side of the rightmost field.
  1. Hover over Explore shortcuts under Field type and click Shortcut Center.

  1. On the Shortcut center page, select or search for the field shortcut you need.

  1. Take the Mark duplicate values field shortcut as an example. Hover over the Mark duplicate values field shortcut, and click Use on the right.

  1. In the field configuration panel, fill out the following information:
  • Enter a field title. If left blank, the name of the field shortcut is used by default.
  • Under Configure, select the field in which you want to find duplicates.

  1. Click Confirm and "🚫 repetitive" will be added in the field for records with duplicate values.

There is a wide range of field shortcuts you can choose from, including:
  • Date-based field shortcuts:
  • Date Conversion: Convert the date to various formats such as week, month, quarter, and year.
  • Countdown Days: Calculate the number of days between a specified date and today.
  • Week of the Year: Calculate the week of the year of the specified date.
  • Progress Tracker: Judge the status based on the expected completion date and the actual completion date.
  • Sequential Growth Rate: Calculate the growth rate of two consecutive time periods.
  • Seniority: Calculate the working years based on the hiring date.
  • Text-based field shortcuts:
  • Mark duplicate values: Find duplicate values in the specified field.
  • Record ID: Generate a unique identifier for each record.
  • Word Case Conversion: Change how text is capitalized.
  • Field Concatenation: Concatenate the contents of 2-4 fields. Multiple delimiters are supported.

How many field shortcuts can be created in a table?

Can I develop my own field shortcuts?
Yes. Click Add Shortcut in the lower-left corner of the shortcut center, then follow the field shortcut development guide to develop your own field shortcuts.
Note: Field shortcuts you developed can't be published for public use.

How do I convert a field generated by field shortcuts to a normal field?
Double-click the name of the field, hover over the field shortcut under Field type, and click Cancel. Select a new field type and then click Confirm.
Note: After canceling the field shortcut, the content format will change based on the new field type and the content may be cleared as a result.
