I. Intro
Board boasts a range of tools designed for seamless collaboration, where you can:
  • @mention someone on the board to draw their attention. For example, you can @mention the relevant managers in the appropriate steps in an approval flow chart.
  • Share the board with other collaborators so that they can view, edit, or manage the content together.
  • Comment on the board itself or comment on specific content on the board.
  • Follow collaborators' cursors to improve comprehension.
II. Steps
@mention and notify users
When editing text on a board, enter @ and the person's name, and click Mention.

When you @mention someone, no notification will be sent to them by default. To send a notification, you can use one of the following methods:
  • When you @mention someone, select Send a notification at the bottom of the pane.
  • To notify someone who's already @mentioned, hover over their name and click Notify.

Note: If the @mentioned user does not have access to the board, hover over the person's name, select view or edit in the pop-up window, and click Grant and Notify to send them a notification and grant them the selected permission.

  • In the document where the board is located, click the ··· More icon > People Mentioned. In the pop-up window, click Notify next to the people you want to notify or click Notify All to notify everyone on the list.

Share a board
💡
Important:
  • The permissions configured for the document in which the board is located also apply to the board. For information on permissions, see Docs permissions overview.
  • When users obtain view, edit, and other permissions for the board, these permissions will also apply to the document in which the board is located.
There are several ways to share a board:
  • In the document where the board is located, hover over the board, and click the Share Link icon in the toolbar that appears at the top.
  • Double-click to enter the board, click Share in the upper-right corner, and send the copied link to the users you want to share with.

Comment on a board
There are two ways to comment on a board:
  • Hover over the board, and click the Comment icon in the toolbar that appears at the top.
  • Hover over the board, and click the Menu icon that appears in the upper-left corner of the board, then click Comment.

You can also comment on content on the board in the following three ways:
  • In the document where the board is located, hover over the board, and click the Comment on Board that appears in the upper-right corner. Your cursor will turn into a comment bubble. Click the content you want to comment on or press esc to cancel.

  • Double-click to enter the board and click the Comment icon in the sidebar. Your cursor will turn into a comment bubble. Click the content you want to comment on or press esc to cancel.
  • Double-click to enter the board, select the content you want to comment on, and click the Comment icon in the sidebar.

Track collaborators' cursors
  • Hover over the ··· More icon in the upper-right corner of the board and turn on Collaborators' cursors as needed. You can also press Ctrl + Alt + \ (Windows) or ⌘ + ⌥ + \ (Mac) to turn this feature on or off.
  • Once it is turned on, the profile photo of collaborators will be displayed in the upper-right corner when they enter the board. If a collaborator is editing or presenting the content, their cursor will also appear.

Follow a collaborator
When there are multiple cursors on the board, you can choose which collaborator to follow.
  • Start following: Click the collaborator's profile photo to start following them.
  • Stop following: Click the collaborator's profile photo again. You can also move, zoom, or edit the board to stop following them.
Share a board in a video meeting
  • When you share a board in a video meeting, the participants will automatically follow your cursor when you enter the board.
  • Participants can double-click the page or scroll the mouse wheel to browse the shared content on their own. In the View on My Own mode, participants with permission to edit the document can also edit the board. Participants without edit permission can only view the board, but not edit it.
