I. Intro
The availability of Wiki features is based on permission settings on the following three levels:
- Organization level
In Docs settings in the Lark Admin Console, organization administrators can limit who can create new wiki spaces and public wiki spaces. At the same time, wiki spaces are a part of the Lark Docs, so the organization's overall settings for external sharing, file operation permissions, and other related settings are applicable.
- Wiki space level
The administrators for each wiki space can specify the wiki space's overall visibility, add or remove wiki space members, and modify its security settings, including external sharing permissions. For wiki spaces created by a Lark personal edition account, only the creator can be the administrator, and other administrators and members cannot be added.
- Page level
Users with page management permissions can individually set permissions for the wiki space page. In a wiki space, sub-page permission settings must be within the scope allowed by the parent page permission settings; the permission settings for all wiki space pages cannot exceed the scope allowed by the wiki space security settings.
This article describes the permission settings for a wiki space and its pages.
II. Steps
Wiki space level
Who can perform these steps: Wiki space administrators.
Device requirement: The following steps can only be performed on the desktop app.
Administrators and members
There are three permission roles in a wiki space: Administrators, editors, and viewers.
- Administrator
The wiki space creator automatically becomes the wiki space administrator, and they can add more administrators as needed. Administrators can manage overall wiki space permissions, including the visibility, and the adding and removal of wiki space administrators and members. Administrators have manage permissions for all pages in a wiki space.
- Editors
This type of member can edit all pages of the wiki space by default. They can go to Lark Docs homepage > Wiki > All wiki spaces for a list of wiki spaces.
- Viewers
This type of member can view all pages of the wiki space by default. They can go to Lark Docs homepage > Wiki > All wiki spaces for a list of wiki spaces.
Visibility
- If wiki space visibility is set to Members of the wiki space, only administrators, editors, and viewers will be able to see the wiki space in the list under All wiki spaces on the Wiki homepage.
- If a wiki space is set to All members of [organization name] and all wiki space members, the wiki space will appear on the Wiki homepage of all organization members.
Share a wiki space
Wiki spaces can be shared by adding administrators and members, or by setting the visibility of the wiki space. In addition, you can also share a link of the wiki space with users within or outside the organization.
Notice: Users accessing the wiki space with the link can only view pages for which they have view permission, so you may need to grant users view permission for the page after sharing the link.
- Share with users within the organization
Click the Share icon in the lower-left corner of the wiki space, click Copy link, and send the link to users you want to share it with.

- Share with users outside the organization
If the organization's Docs settings allow external sharing, the wiki space administrator can click the Share icon in the lower-left corner to turn on Publish the Wiki space to Web.
Once this setting is turned on, users can click Copy link and send the link to an external user. For more details, see Share a wiki space with external users.

Security settings
In a wiki space, wiki space administrators can click the Settings icon in the lower-left corner, and select Security to configure security settings for the wiki space. Settings include page sharing, creation, copying, and downloading. These settings will determine what permissions can be configured at the page level as page settings must be within the scope allowed by wiki security settings.
For example, if security settings specify that external sharing is not allowed, then no pages in the wiki space can turn on external sharing. If the security settings specify that viewers are not allowed to copy content, then in permission settings of the page, users with view permission can't be selected for the Who can copy content option.
Page level
Within the scope allowed by the wiki space security settings, you can share pages in a wiki space, or change the page's permission settings.
In a wiki space, if Page B is located on a sub-level of Page A, we call Page B a sub-page of Page A and Page A is the parent page of Page B. Sharing and permission settings of parent pages may also be applicable to sub-pages.
Share a page
You can share pages and grant view, edit, or manage permissions for pages. Sharing and granting permission for a page is the same as sharing Lark documents. For more details, see Share documents.
If a shared page has sub-pages, you must determine whether to simultaneously share the sub-pages.
- When you add a collaborator, you can choose whether to select Allow access to sub-pages.
- If this is selected, the collaborator will have the same permissions for all sub-pages of the current page by default. In the collaborator list of the sub-page, Based on parent page is displayed under the collaborator's name.
- If it is not selected, click Share > owner's profile photo to open the Manage collaborators panel to view collaborators, who are divided into two tabs:
- Current page and its sub-pages: Collaborators with permissions for all sub-pages of the current page. In the collaborator list of the sub-page, Based on parent page is displayed under the collaborator's name, and by default, they will have the same permissions as for the parent page.
- Current page only: Collaborators who only belong to the current page.
- When you modify the sharing range of a wiki page link, you need to select Current page only or Current page and sub-pages. If you're making the sharing range more restrictive, you can only select Current page and sub-pages.
Share with external users
External sharing actions for a page are restricted by the organization's Docs settings, wiki space security settings, and the parent page's permission settings. If the above settings don't allow sharing, users with manage permissions for the page won't be able to share the page. For more details, see Share wiki pages with external users.
Set permissions
The steps to set permissions for a page are the same as documents. For more details, see Set share, copy, download, and comment permissions for Docs.
Parent page permissions affect sub-pages in the following ways:
- By default, a new sub-page inherits the parent page's collaborators, link sharing range, and permission settings.
- When you change a sub-page's permission settings, they cannot exceed the scope allowed by the parent page's permission settings.
For instance, if the parent page's permission settings specify that external sharing is not allowed, then external sharing can't be turned on for the sub-page. If the parent page's settings specify that viewers are not allowed to copy content, then users with view permission can't be selected for the Who can copy content option on the sub-page.
- Creating, moving, or deleting sub-pages requires edit permission for the parent page.
Note: In security settings, wiki space administrators can specify whether moving or deleting wiki sub-pages requires edit permission of the parent page. For more details, see Modify Wiki space security settings.
