I. Issue
If you're unable to delete documents or folders because the Delete button is missing or grayed out, or you receive a prompt stating you don't have permission, it's likely due to one of the following reasons:
- You do not have manage permission for the document or folder.
- You do not have edit permission for the location (wiki space or folder) where the document or folder is located.
You can refer to the steps below to try to solve it.
II. Solutions
Unable to delete documents
Reason 1: You do not have manage permission for the document
Open the document and click Share in the upper-right corner. Click a profile photo in the share panel to check your permission.

- If you do not have permission to manage collaborators, please contact the document owner to apply for permission. After you obtain manage permission for the document, you can delete it.
- If you have manage permission for the document or you are the owner and still cannot delete the document, please continue reading.
Reason 2: You do not have edit permission for the folder or parent page where the document is located
Method 1: Move the document to a location where you have edit permission
- Open the document, hover over the ··· icon in the upper-right corner, and then select Move To. Select a location where you have edit permission (for example, My Space or your own folder), fill in the reason for moving the document (optional), and then click Send Request.

- After the folder/parent page owner agrees to the move, try deleting the document.
Method 2: Obtain edit permission for the folder or parent page where the document is located
First, confirm where the document is located in My Space (Drive > My Folders), Shared Space (Drive > Shared Folders), or Wiki.
- Add Shortcut or the folder name will be displayed below a document's name if it is located in My Space (Drive > My Folder) or Shared Space (Drive > Shared Folder).

- To the left of the document, the Wiki table of contents will be displayed if the document is located in a wiki space and Last modified: [date] will be displayed below the document's name.

The document located in My Space (Drive > My Folder) or Shared Space (Drive > Shared Folder)
Open the document you want to delete, and check the folder to which the document belongs in the upper-left corner of the page.

- If you can see the name of the folder where the document is located, it means you have view permission for the folder. Please apply for edit permission for the folder and try to delete it again. You can follow these steps:
- Click the folder name in the upper-left corner of the document to enter the folder.
- Locate the owner on the right side of the folder and contact them to grant you edit permission.

- If you can only see Add Shortcut and cannot see the folder name, it means you do not have view permission for the folder.

The document may have been moved to a folder you do not have permission to access.
- Click Share in the upper-right corner of the document and click a collaborator's profile photo. Contact the user who has inherited manage permission from the parent folder.

- Ask them to open the document, and click the folder name in the upper-left corner.
- Then, ask them to click the Collaborator icon on the right side of the open folder and grant you edit permission. Once you have edit permission for the folder, you can delete the document.

The document is located in a wiki space
Open the document you want to delete and check the Wiki table of contents on the left.
- If you can see the parent page heading, it means you have the view permission for the parent page. Open the parent page, click Share in the upper-right corner, and then click Request Edit Permission. Try deleting the document again after you obtain edit permission for the parent page.

- If you can only see the current page (the document you have opened) in the Wiki table of contents, it means you do not have view permission for the parent page. Therefore, click Share in the upper-right corner of the document, click the collaborator's profile photo, and then contact the user who has inherited permission from the parent page. Ask them to grant you edit permission or to apply for you to get it. Try deleting the document again after you obtain edit permission for the parent page.

Unable to delete folder
Reason 1: No manage permission for the folder
Open a folder and then click the Collaborator icon on the right. Check what permission you have.
- If you are notified that you do not have permission to manage collaborators, it means you do not have manage permission for the folder. Please contact the owner of the folder to grant you permission
- If you have the manage permission for the folder or you are the owner, but you're still unable to delete it, please continue reading.
Reason 2: No editing permission for the parent folder
Scenario 1: You can see the parent folder
Open the parent folder. Find the owner on the right side of the page, and ask them to grant you edit permission for the folder. After you are granted permission, you can delete the folder.

Scenario 2: You cannot see the parent folder
In the Manage collaborators list for the folder, find the user that inherited permissions from the parent folder. Ask them to grant you or apply for you to have edit permission for the parent folder. After you're granted permission, you can delete the parent folder.
