Create a radar chart in Sheets

I. Intro
Radar charts can be used to compare multiple variables at the same time, which is useful for a wide range of scenarios, such as solution selections, candidate evaluations, and product comparisons. With radar charts, the strengths and weaknesses of every variable are clear at a glance.
II. Steps
This article is about funnel charts. For details on using charts, see Create and edit charts.
1. Data source
The data source for radar charts contains columns for values and labels (categories). The first two columns below are mandatory, but the first row, which contains labels, can be omitted.

If the data source contains only non-numeric data, unique values will automatically be set as the category (variables), and their frequency will be counted.
Note: This is only supported when all data is in the same column.

3. Chart styles

  • Basic chart settings:
  • In Setup, choose a theme and chart type including Radar, Filled radar, and Radar with markers.
  • Under Options, configure the basic settings, such as whether to show the Chart title, Legend, or Axis lines.
  • Under Radar shape, you can choose between Circle and Polygon and turn on Fill and Smoothed line.

  • Set the data range: In Setup > Range, you can set the data range for the chart, including:
  • Category: The variables to be evaluated against, appearing on the edge of the radar chart.
  • Value axis (series): The items to be compared, appearing on the inside of the radar chart. If the first row/column is text, it will be automatically set as series labels. If there is no text, series label defaults to Series 1 and so on.
  • When the label column contains duplicate values, you can select Aggregate under Setup > Category, to aggregate those values.

  • Customize chart: Under Customize, you can change the background, and font, as well as chart and axis titles.

  • Set data style: Under Customize > Series, set the data style.
  • You can configure the color, font, border, and other properties.

  • Change grid style: Under Customize > Gridlines and ticks, configure settings for gridlines.
  • Select Value axis or Category axis.
  • Set the shape of the value axes, the color and thickness of the gridlines and ticks, and so on.
