I. Intro

Platform requirement: This feature can only be used on the desktop app.

Who can perform these steps: The organization's founder.

Only the organization's founder can disband the organization from the Lark Admin Console. After an organization is disbanded, all associated accounts and data will be permanently deleted. For example, all admin accounts and user info in Contacts will be deleted and their data cannot be recovered.

Typical use cases:

You mistakenly registered an organization, and you are the only member of this organization. You want to delete this organization account or leave the organization.

Note: After disbanding the organization, the current account will be canceled. If you still need a Lark account for personal use, you can sign up for an account again in the correct way.

The organization is no longer in use.

II. Steps

Notice: Only the founder can see the option of Disband Organization. You can check whether you have the Founder tag next to your profile photo in the upper-right corner of the Lark Admin Console.

Open the Lark Admin Console and go to Settings > Organization Info.

Click Disband Organization at the bottom of the page.

Enter the organization's full name, then click Disband Organization.

Verify your founder identity in the pop-up window.

Note: If you choose to verify through email, the verification code will be sent to your login email address, not your business email.

After 72 hours, all associated accounts and data will be permanently deleted.

III. FAQs

Can I disband an organization through the mobile app?

No. To prevent accidental deletions and ensure a controlled process, you can only disband an organization through the desktop app.

Why can't I disband the organization?

It could be either of the following reasons:

You are not the founder of the organization. Check whether you have the Founder label after your name in the Lark Admin Console.

Some of the paid services that your organization bought are still valid. Wait until the paid seats expire to disband the organization.

Can I restore an organization after disbanding it?

Yes, but only within 72 hours after you disband it. Go to the Lark Admin Console > Settings > Organization Info and click Undo.

What is the difference between disbanding an organization and deleting the account under my organization?

If the organization is disbanded, all member accounts within the organization will be deleted, including the founder's account. And the data cannot be recovered.

If the founder deletes his own account under the organization, the founder won't be able to use their account and all data of the account will be deleted. The accounts of other members within the organization will not be affected.

Note: The founder can't delete their account before they transfer the founder's identity to someone else.

Why does the organization still exist after I disbanded it?

The organization will only be disbanded 72 hours after you click Disband Organization.

After the organization is disbanded, will contents in Docs, Minutes, Messenger, and other services in the organization be converted into personal resources?

No.
