Availability: This feature is in beta.
Who can perform these steps: Primary administrators and administrators with terminal security permissions.
Screen capture protection restricts organization members from recording or capturing screen content. This is a good way to secure sensitive data and further improve your organization's information security. The administrators can set the limitation on members, user groups, and departments.
Note: This feature applies to the Lark apps version 7.12 or above, including Android, iOS, and Windows.
II. Steps

  • You can also select Global to set a unified screen capture protection rule for all members.

How it works on the members' side
  • Mobile:
  • Android: When a member takes a screenshot within Lark, it will be intercepted and the screenshot will fail; when they record the screen, it will not be intercepted, but the recorded video will be black.
  • iOS: When a member takes a screenshot within Lark, they will see a warning that the organization has enabled screen capture protection, but they can still take screenshots. When a member records the screen within Lark, they will see a blocking page that covers the screen, which disappears after the screen recording ends.

III. FAQs
Is screen capture protection available on the Lark web version?
No. On the web version, administrators can turn on watermarks to help protect content. For more information, see Admin | Turn on the global watermark.
When screen capture protection is turned on, does it mean that members' devices will be unable to take screenshots and screen recordings?
No. Screen capture protection only works for Lark pages. When using other apps on the device (mobile or desktop), the device will still be able to take screenshots and screen recordings.
Will the sub-department's screen capture protection rule change accordingly when the rule of its parent department changes?
Yes. When the screen capture protection is turned on for a department, all the sub-departments follow the changes of its rule instead of following the global rule.
If a member belongs to multiple departments or user groups with different screen capture protection rules, how will their rule work?
  • When configurations are different for members, organizations, and user groups, the rule priority is as follows: member > user group > sub-department > senior department > global organization.
  • For example, a member belongs to the Design department. The individual rule of the member disabled protection on both desktop and mobile, while the Design department enabled protection on both desktop and mobile. Then the member can capture the screen on both desktop and mobile.
  • When rules are different at the same level, such as two user groups or two departments, the stricter rule is applied.
  • For example, a member belongs to both the Design department and the Management department. The Design department enabled protection on the desktop app, while the Management department enabled protection on the mobile app. Then the member won't be able to capture the screen on both desktop and mobile.
How do screen capture protection rules change when a member changes departments?
As long as there are no rules with a higher priority set for the member, the member will follow the rules of the new department.
