Admin | Configure DNS settings

2 min read
I. Intro
🔖
Who can perform these steps: Primary administrators or administrators with "Mail" permission.
To enable Lark Mail email service, the administrator must add DNS records in the domain provider's console.
II. Steps
How you configure DNS settings depends on your organization's domain service provider. Below are some articles based on some common providers:
When configuring DNS settings, you need to add the DNS records for the Lark Mail email service. Depending on the way the email service is enabled, different records need to be filled in. For the actual content of the record values to be filled in, refer to the prompts on the Configure domain page in the Admin Console.
  • When Enable email and migrate old emails selected, two DNS record settings are required during the entire migration process. You can proceed according to the prompts on the Configure domain page. For the first-time DNS setting, a TXT record similar to the following will be provided on the page. For reference:
Host record
Record type
Record value
Priority
TTL
@
TXT
verification-code-site-App_abcde_1234
Note: The above is an example. The actual record value you'll need to configure can vary depending on how you set up the new email service. The specific record you need to add can be directly viewed and copied in the Configure Domain page of the Lark Admin Console.

IV. FAQs
After completing domain verification, can I delete the TXT DNS records if I want to use other third-party services?
After you complete domain verification, the TXT records with the value "v=spf1 +include:spf.onlarksuite.com -all" must be retained and cannot be deleted. The TXT records that start with "verification-code-site-App" can be deleted.
If you need to send emails from other server addresses, see Admin | Configure an SPF record containing multiple server addresses.
During the email migration process, will configuring DNS affect the use of the original email service?
The email migration process contains two steps of DNS configuration. And they have different impacts on the original email service.
  • When starting email migration, you only need to add a TXT-type DNS record in the domain Admin Console, and the original email service will not be affected. You can continue to send and receive emails.
  • At the end of the email migration, you need to add Lark's MX and TXT (SPF) type DNS records in the domain Admin Console, delete the original records of the same type, and replace the domain in the original email service. These actions will cause the original email service to be discontinued. To minimize the impact, you can perform these actions during off-peak hours for email use.
