Admin | Configure version upgrade and login restriction reminders

4 min read
I. Intro
🔖
Who can perform these steps: Primary administrators or administrators with Settings permissions.
As an administrator, you can set reminders in the Lark Admin Console to remind members to upgrade to the latest version of Lark as well as set login restrictions for those using out-of-date versions of the Lark app.
II. Steps
Configure version upgrade reminders
When enabled, this feature will only work for Lark version 6.11 or above.
  1. Go to the Lark Admin Console and click Settings > Version Upgrade Reminder > Create New.
  • 250px|700px|reset
  1. Fill in the following information on the Version Upgrade Reminder page.
  • Device type: Select the device type to which you want to send the reminders. You can select multiple device types.
  • Note: This feature is not supported on the iOS version of the Lark app published to the App Store through ABM (Apple Business Manager).
  • Reminder-required version: Enter the version numbers that need to be upgraded. The format should be a 3-segment number, such as 6.11.0.
  • Reminder type: Select Non-compulsory or Compulsory. Non-compulsory reminders can be ignored, but compulsory reminders will force members to upgrade before they can continue using the Lark app. Consider which option is best for your organization.
  • Reminder content: Reminder content will be displayed in the system language. Click the + icon to add reminder content in other languages. Click Edit Default Language in the upper-right corner to change the default language when there are reminders for multiple languages.
  • 250px|700px|reset
  1. Set who will receive the upgrade reminders as well as the push settings and end time.
  • Push to: You can push reminders to All members or Selected members. You can select departments or user groups or directly search for specific members.
  • Don't push to: Members that you select here won't receive reminders. If a member is on both the Push to and Don't push to lists, the Don't push to list will take priority.
  • Push settings: Set the start time and coverage rate of each push.
  • If you're sending the reminder to more than 1,000 recipients, we recommend that you send the reminder in batches so that each batch covers a certain proportion of the recipients. Click Add Push to add more pushes. We recommend you push the reminder to 100% of the recipients in 3 to 7 days.
  • You can have up to 10 pushes.
  • Push reminders until: Upgrade reminders will be pushed until this time.
  • 250px|700px|reset
  1. Click Save to finish the configuration.
Configure login restrictions
💡
Important: Members who receive a login restriction reminder will be immediately logged out and will no longer be able to log in using an out-of-date version. Proceed with caution as this may interrupt members' work.
  1. Go to the Lark Admin Console and click Settings > Version Upgrade Reminder > Create New.
  1. Click Restrict Login at the top. Fill in the below information:
  • Version at risk: Select the versions at risk for which you want to restrict logins.
  • Note:
  • Versions at risk are determined by the Lark team. Contact Support or your Customer Success Manager if you cannot see any versions at risk or you're not sure which versions to select.
  • Once you've selected a version at risk, you can view the detailed version scope and also click Data Table to view how many members are currently using this version.
  • Device type: Select the device type for which you want to restrict logins.
  • 250px|700px|reset
  1. Set who will receive the reminders as well as the push settings:
  • Push to: You can push reminders to All members or Selected members. You can select departments or user groups or directly search for specific members.
  • Don't push to: Members that you select here won't receive reminders. If a member is on both the Push to and Don't push to lists, the Don't push to list will take priority.
  • Push settings: Set the start time and coverage rate of each push. We recommend that you send the reminder late at night or early in the morning, make an announcement in advance, and encourage members to complete the upgrade beforehand to minimize any disruptions to members' work.
  • 250px|700px|reset
  1. Click Save to finish the configuration.
Members who receive a login restriction reminder will be immediately logged out of their Lark account and will no longer be able to log in using an out-of-date version of Lark. These members must go to the official Lark website and download the latest version of the Lark app to continue using it.

III. FAQs
Why don't members receive pop-up version upgrade reminders once they've been configured?
Members need to be using Lark version 6.11 or above to be able to receive pop-up version upgrade reminders.
Why are there no options in the "Version at risk" drop-down list on the "Restrict Login" page?
This indicates that the Lark team has not yet configured any versions at risk for your organization. Contact Support or your Customer Success Manager if you cannot see any versions at risk.
