Admin | Reset member passwords

Who can perform these steps: Primary administrators or administrators with "Member and Department" permission.
When members forget their Lark login password, administrators can help reset their passwords. Members do not need to appeal to Lark and wait for an official review.
As an administrator, you can guide the members to reset their login password in the Account Security Center if they can log in using the verification code, so they can stay logged in after the password changes. For more information, see Set or change your login password.
Common scenarios:
A member forgets the password for their Lark business email, which is also their Lark login password. You can reset their login password in the Lark Admin Console.
Note: If you can't see the Reset Login Password option, it indicates that the member's login method is not their business email and you can't reset their password.
II. Steps
Prerequisite: Make sure that you can contact the member other than from Lark, such as by personal email or phone. The member will be logged out once you reset their login password.
  1. Open the Lark Admin Console and click OrganizationMember and Department.
  1. Click the ··· icon > Reset Login Password to the right of the member whose login password you want to reset.
  • Note: You can only reset login passwords for members whose account status is either Active or Inactive.

  1. Choose how you get the new password.
  • Generate password by system: An 8-digit password consisting of a mix of letters and numbers will be generated by Lark.
  1. Choose a way to send out the new password to the member.

  • Click Copy and directly inform the member offline.
  • Select Phone number or Email, enter or select a phone number or email, and click Send.
  • (Optional) Select Send to self to receive a copy of the password in your registered work email. You can click Modify to change to another email that you'd like to receive the password.
If the member is logged in, they will see a notification that their password has been reset and they need to verify their identity to log in again, as soon as you reset their password.
The member has to log in with the new password you sent, and then change the password again.
III. FAQs
If the member did not receive the password reset link, can it be sent again?
It is not possible to send the same password again, but the administrator can repeat the password reset process again. The same administrator can repeat the password reset process up to 5 times within a 24 hour period. To avoid this situation, the administrator can backup the password by either sending it to themselves or copying it.
Can administrators use the member password they reset in the Lark Admin Console to log in to the member's account?
No. To prevent administrators from using passwords they generate in the Lark Admin Console to log in to member accounts, members must verify their identity (for example, by entering a login phone or email verification code) when they use the password to log in to their account.
If the member uses a Lark business email and does not have a login phone or email address or another verification method, they must set up an alternative verification method first before they can successfully use the password that the administrator generated for them in the Lark Admin Console. (This is because administrators can reallocate Lark business emails, so using a business email as a verification method cannot guarantee account security.)
