I. Intro
There are two email text formats available: Rich text mode and plain text mode.
- Rich text mode: You can format your text, add tables, and insert images to make your email visually appealing. However, rich text emails may not appear correctly for the recipients, depending on their email settings. This is the default mode when you compose an email.
- Plain text mode: You can only use plain text without formatting, tables, or images. This mode is ideal if you only need to send text and want to ensure your email can be viewed correctly on any device. This article explains how to turn this mode on.
II. Steps
- Open Mail from the left navigation bar.
- Click Compose.
- Click Advanced and turn on Plain text.

If you've already started writing in rich text mode, a pop-up will appear when you attempt to turn on plain text mode. Click Switch if you still wish to use plain text.
Notice: After you switch to plain text, all formatting, images, and tables will be removed from the original message. This action cannot be undone.
