What are the bandwidth requirements for video meetings?

What are the bandwidth requirements for video meetings?

1 min read
Lark is committed to providing the best video meeting and screen sharing experiences. However, network bandwidth plays a decisive role in video quality. Insufficient bandwidth may lead to blurry or frozen video, or loading issues in screen sharing. To ensure you have the highest quality video experience, please make sure that the following bandwidth requirements are met.
I. Recommended bandwidth for individual meeting participants
Upload
Download
Audio
64 Kbps
192 Kbps
Video
  • Lark mobile: 0.7 Mbps
  • Lark desktop and web: 2 Mbps
Note: If the network connection is poor, Lark will automatically adjust the bandwidth it uses to as low as 0.2 Mbps.
Requirements may vary based on the number of participants and devices.
  • Lark mobile:
  • 0.7 to 2.8 Mbps for gallery view
  • 0.9 Mbps to 2.2 Mbps for thumbnail view
  • Lark desktop and web: 2 Mbps
  • 0.7 Mbps to 2.1 Mbps for gallery view
  • 1.5 Mbps to 2.8 Mbps for speaker view
  • 0.9 Mbps to 2.2 Mbps for thumbnail view
Screen sharing

0.9 Mbps to 2.8 Mbps
II. How to estimate outbound bandwidth
🔖
Note: This is a general calculation method. Please calculate and prepare the network of your organization accordingly.
The maximum outbound bandwidth of an organization's public network depends on the number of devices that are used to participate in a video meeting at the same time. The upload or download bandwidth can be estimated based on the maximum concurrent number of devices in use multiplied by 2 Mbps.
For example, in a company with 10,000 employees, if 500 devices are used to participate in a video meeting at the same site concurrently, the recommended upload and download bandwidth is 1 Gbps.
