Lark Meetings quota

Lark Meetings quota

5 min read
Video meeting usage is the accrued time of all the meetings the organization members initiate. The consumed time of each meeting is calculated according to the number of minutes each device participates in the meeting. When a device joins a meeting, each minute of participation counts as one minute of usage.
For more information on how video meeting usage is calculated, refer to the "Rules for calculating video meeting usage" section in this article.

Notice:
  • The Lark Basic plan (supports only specific countries and regions) quota mentioned in this article goes into effect on January 9th, 2025, while the quota rules for Lark Starter, Pro, and Enterprise plans will officially come into effect starting from March 3rd, 2025.
  • The video meetings usage add-ons will be available for purchase on March 3rd, 2025.
I. Available quota of video meeting usage
Different Lark plans come with different annual free video meeting usage quotas. The following table shows the quota for each plan:
Plan
Starter
Basic
Pro
Enterprise
Quota (minutes/year)
0
0
5 million
10 million + 2000 X purchased seats
Note:
  • Lark Starter and Basic users can only join ongoing video meetings, but can't initiate meetings or make video calls.
  • The video meeting usage quota will be granted annually according to the "order cycle" (starting from the date when the organization activated the first service plan). Renewal and upgrade of the plans or services won't change the order cycle starting date.
For example, if a company activated the Lark Enterprise plan on June 1, 2024, and renewed the plan on September 1, 2024. The company's annual video meeting usage quota will be recalculated on June 1 each year, irrelevant to the renewal date.
When an organization exceeds its video meeting usage quota (the remaining quota is less than or equal to 0), the resolution of video and sharing in new meetings will automatically decrease. The organization's primary administrators, hosts, and co-hosts of the new meetings will see a prompt stating that the meeting resolution will be degraded due to lacking quota.
  • The maximum meeting resolution will drop from 720p to 360p.
  • The maximum sharing resolution will drop from 2K to 720p.
Note: If you exceed the quota during a meeting, the resolution of the current meeting and sharing will not be reduced.
Lark Pro or Enterprise plan users can purchase video meeting usage add-ons to restore the default meeting resolution.
II. Video meeting usage add-ons
🔖
Notice:
  • The add-on quota is available immediately after purchase and is valid for one year by default.
  • If your Lark plan expires before the add-on, you won't be able to use the add-on after the Lark plan expires.
The organization can purchase a video meeting usage add-on through either of the following methods. Once purchased, the default meeting resolution of 720p and sharing resolution of 2K will be automatically restored.
Method 1: Contact Lark sales, Support, or your Customer Success Manager.
Method 2: The administrator can purchase an add-on from the Lark Admin Console by clicking Billing > My Quota > Top up (under Video meeting usage).
Note: The Top up option is only visible for primary administrators or administrators with both Billing and Member and Department permissions.
III. Rules for calculating video meeting usage
When a device joins a meeting (desktop, mobile, tablet, or web version), each minute of participation counts as one minute of usage. Fractions of a minute are counted as one minute.
Usage is deducted from the remaining usage quota of the meeting organizer's organization. If you attend a meeting organized by another organization, your usage quota will not be affected.
Example: Three devices join a meeting. Device A joins for 30 minutes, device B for 25 minutes, and device C for 20 minutes. A total of 75 minutes will be deducted from the video meeting usage quota (30+25+20 minutes).
  • Video meeting usage quota is deducted for the following types of meetings and scenarios:
  • Lark video meetings with two or more participants.
  • 1-on-1 video calls
  • Video Meeting usage quota is not deducted for the following types of meetings:
  • Meetings with only one participant (one device).
  • 1-on-1 voice calls
  • Note: If you turn on the camera or enable the recording, sharing, Comment Review, or Magic Share, video meeting usage will be deducted from your organization's quota.
  • Webinar meetings
  • When you start local sharing in Lark Rooms without a meeting.
  • Meetings which you join from Lark Rooms or through the SIP protocol.
  • Participants with a dedicated media server.
🔖
Notice: To avoid unnecessary consumption of the meeting resources, administrators can configure the meetings to automatically end when there is only 1 participant.
IV. Consumed video meeting usage quota
Detailed usage data
Primary administrators or administrators with Video Meetings permissions can find the details of meeting usage on the Product Settings > Video Meetings > Meeting Usage page in the Lark Admin Console. The tab of Video Meeting Usage shows detailed video usage data for each meeting.
  • Select a time period to view the usage data for meetings held during that period, or search for a specific meeting by searching the organizer's name or meeting ID.
  • Note: You can only view the data within a year.
  • Click Export to export the video meeting usage data to Sheets or Excel files.
Total available video meeting quota and amount used
Primary administrators or administrators with both Billing and Member and Department permissions can view the total available quota and the amount currently used on the Billing > My Quota > Video Meeting Usage page in the Lark Admin Console.
V. FAQs
How is the usage data of video meeting usage calculated when the same user joins a meeting from multiple devices?
The quota is consumed by device. [Device number] x minutes will be consumed if the same user joins a meeting from multiple devices.
I started a meeting after exceeding the meeting usage quota. Will the meeting resolution be restored if I purchase an add-on during the meeting?
No. When you purchase an add-on during a meeting, the resolution will be restored for future meetings, but not for the current meeting.
