I. Intro
To better meet the needs of internal communications, the accounts interface of Lark Subscriptions has been upgraded. After upgrading, there are two types of accounts: Broadcasters and Subscriptions.
II. Types of accounts
Broadcasters
Subscriptions
Push notification
Push notifications are sent to your message list.
Push notifications are displayed in the Subscriptions app.
Feature
The message is more noticeable, and you can clearly see who sent the notification.
Less distracting for members.
Sample scenarios
  • Organization culture: Create an official organization account to push information such as organization policies and important news to members.
  • Organization knowledge: Create a specialized account to push knowledge-based content such as trainings and work tips to members.
  • Business departments: Create department subscription accounts to share industry information, business information, department activities, business-related knowledge, and other content.

III. Account usage
The overall creation and setup procedures for Broadcasters and Subscriptions are essentially the same. The major differences are:
Select the account type based on how you plan to use it. While using the account, be aware of the following:
Broadcasters
Subscriptions
Creation permission
  • Only app administrators can create by default.
  • All members can apply to create by default.
Account information
  • Types of accounts: Enterprise and Department.
  • Follow settings: The Default-follow feature must be turned on, but the default-follow range can be customized.
  • Approval to send content: Approval to send content is required, but you can specify content reviewers.
  • Types of accounts: Department, Individual, and Other.
  • Follow settings: The Default-follow feature can be turned on or off only when Department is selected for Account type.
  • Approval to send content: Approval to send content is optional.

Note: For existing department Subscriptions accounts, if the account administrators have Broadcasters creation permission, they can update the accounts to Broadcasters accounts by going to Account settings > Account attribute. Once updated, you will no longer be able to change the account back to a Subscriptions account).
