I. Intro
You can configure message notifications according to your preferences. This includes turning notifications on or off, selecting the types of notifications you wish to receive, and adjusting how they are displayed.
II. Steps
Click your profile photo in the upper-left corner of the Lark desktop app. Then click Settings > Notifications.

Turn on message notifications
Select Message notifications to turn on new message notifications. Notifications for All new messages is on by default. If you don't want to receive notifications for all types of messages, deselect All new messages and select the message types you want to receive notifications for.
Note: Buzz messages cannot be turned off.

Turn on message notifications for starred contacts
Select Message notifications, then click View all starred contacts to see your starred contacts list. You can set notifications for starred contacts to bypass muted chats and when message notifications are muted. Notifications for starred contacts have a special alert sound to help you identify them.
You can customize notification settings for starred contacts by checking the following options:
  • Receive notifications for starred contacts in muted chats.
  • Select Notify me of new messages in muted chats. Lark will send notifications when there are new messages in muted chats. After you select this option, you can choose whether to select Notify me of new messages in Collapsed Chats.
  • Select Notify me, even when notifications are muted. Lark will still send message notifications when notifications is muted.

Set message notifications in calls and meetings
Select Turn off message notifications during calls and meetings. Lark will not send message notifications during calls and meetings.
Set message notification sound
Select Notification sound to turn on notification sounds.
Click the Play button to the right of Messages, Buzz messages, @Me messages, or Messages from starred contacts to hear what the notification sounds like.
Deselect Notification sound to turn off notification sounds.

Set banner message notifications
Select Banner notification to turn on banner notifications. You can choose one of the following banner options:
  • Show message details: Displays the message details in the banner.
  • Hide message details: Hides the message details.
Set new message notifications in muted chats
Under Muted chat notifications, you can choose the type of chat notification you wish to see when you receive a new message in a muted chat:
  • Gray number: Displays the number of new messages received in the chat.
  • Red dot: Displays a dot to indicate the chat has new messages.
Under Notifications for muted chats in the navigation bar, you can also choose the type of notifications you will see in the left navigation bar.
  • Display: Displays the number of new messages or a dot depending on your selection under Muted chat notifications.
  • Hide: No notifications are displayed in the navigation bar.
Show or hide the number of unread messages in the menu bar
You can choose whether to show the number of unread messages in the menu bar at the top of your desktop screen. There are two options available:
  • Show unread messages
  • Show Lark icon only

Can I change the message notification sound on the desktop app?
No, notification sounds on the desktop app are fixed, but you can choose whether to enable them.
What should I do if my computer is locked and I don't get sound notifications for new messages?
When the device is locked, it may enter sleep mode, which could disconnect the network connection or restrict app activity. You can set your device to not sleep or disconnect from the network after locking.
