I. Intro
In Lark, leaving an organization means deleting your account under that organization. If you have joined other organizations, your accounts in those organizations will not be affected.
Common scenarios:
Scenario 1: You joined an organization by mistake.
Scenario 2: You departed from the organization, but the administrator did not delete your account.
💡
Important: After leaving the organization, your account under that organization will no longer be available, and all associated data will be deleted.
II. Steps
You can leave the organization by using one of the following two methods.
Note: If you are the founder of the organization, you need to transfer your founder identity to another member before proceeding with the steps below.
Method 1: Delete your account in the Account Security Center
Prerequisite:
To use this method, your account must be active and not affected by abnormal conditions, such as being frozen, banned, or suspended. If the requirements are not met or you are unable to delete your account by yourself for other reasons, use Method 2.
Steps:
  1. Click your profile photo, then click Settings > Account and Security > Go to Account Security Center.

  1. Select Delete Account. After reading the prompt in the pop-up window, click Delete.

  1. Select the reason for deleting, fill in the additional description, and click Next.

  1. Complete the verification, click Delete Account, then click Confirm in the pop-up window to complete the deletion.
  • After the deletion is completed, you will leave the organization, and the account will be automatically logged out from all logged-in devices.

Method 2: Contact the organization's administrator to delete your account
Prerequisite:
You can use this method to leave the organization under all circumstances. For example:
  • Your account is affected by abnormal conditions such as being frozen, banned, or suspended.
  • You are unable to delete your account using Method 1 for any other reason.
Steps:
Contact the organization's administrator and ask the administrator to perform the "delete members" action in the Lark Admin Console. After the administrator completes the action, your account will be deleted, and you will leave the organization.
Note: If you don't know who the organization's administrator is, you can find the administrator through the following methods:
  • Ask other members of your organization, such as IT department staff or your manager to find the organization's administrator.
  • Open the Lark Admin Console link on the Lark desktop app where you can see the administrator information on the welcome page.

IV. FAQs
I am the founder and administrator of an organization. How do I leave the organization?
  • If you are the founder of the organization, you need to transfer your founder identity to another member, and then delete your account in the Account Security Center by yourself, or contact the organization's administrator to delete you from the organization.
  • If you are an organization's administrator (not the founder of the organization), you don't need to transfer your identity. You can directly delete your account in the Account Security Center by yourself, or contact other administrators of the organization to delete you from the organization.
I am the only person in my organization. How can I leave the organization?
You can disband the organization in the Lark Admin Console. This will delete the organization and all accounts under it. For more information, see Admin | Founder disbands an organization.
I am a member of the organization. Why can't I delete my account in the Account Security Center?
It might be caused by the following reasons:
  • Abnormal account conditions: If your account is frozen, banned, or suspended, self-deletion is not supported. You need to contact the organization's administrator to delete you from the organization.
  • You are the founder of the organization: You need to first transfer your founder identity to another member, and then delete the account by yourself in the Account Security Center, or contact the organization's administrator to delete you from the organization.
  • Other issues: You need to contact the organization's administrator to delete you from the organization.
I accidentally left the organization. How can I restore my account?
You can contact your organization's administrator within 30 days of leaving. The administrator can restore your account through the Lark Admin Console. Note that certain resources and data associated with this account will not be recoverable. For more information, see Admin | Restore accidentally deleted members.
Note: If more than 30 days have passed since you left the organization, the account cannot be restored.
