I. Intro

You can join an organization in Lark using one of the methods described in this article. After joining, you can communicate and collaborate with other members of the organization.

II. Steps

Use one of the following methods to join an organization.

Use an invite email or text message to join

If you receive an email or text message from an organization administrator inviting you to join an organization, open the link in the text message or email, and then tap Agree.

Note: If you tap Decline, your phone number or email and name specified by the administrator in the Lark Admin Console will be deleted.

Tap Switch to new organization to download and install the Lark app. Then, open the app, enter the email or phone number through which you received the invitation text message, and complete verification.

Important: Make sure to use the email or phone number through which you received the invitation message to log in, otherwise, you will not be able to join the organization.

Use an invite link to join

If an administrator shares an invite link for you to join an organization, tap the link, enter your name and phone number or email, and enter the verification code.

Tap Download the App. After the Lark app is downloaded and installed, open the app, enter your phone number or email, and complete verification.

Use an invite code to join

If an administrator shares an invite code (an 8-letter code) for you to join the organization, you need to first download and install the Lark app.

Open the Lark app and tap Log In. Enter your phone number, tap Next, and enter the verification code to complete the verification.

Note: If it is not your first time opening the Lark app, you can enter your phone number directly.

At the bottom of the Create your organization page, tap Or Join an Organization. Then, enter the invite code and your name, and then tap Next.

Set your account password, and then tap Next.

Use an invite QR code to join

If an organization administrator shares an invite QR code for you to join an organization, you can use a device (such as a phone) with scanning capabilities to scan the code. Then, enter your name and phone number or email, and enter the verification code.

Tap Download the App. After the Lark app is downloaded and installed, open the app, enter your phone number, and complete verification.

III. FAQs

An administrator has invited me to join an organization using my phone number or email, but I haven't received any text messages or emails. What should I do to join?

You can troubleshoot by doing the following steps:

Ask the administrator to check whether they entered your email or phone number correctly in the Lark Admin Console. If it is incorrect, ask the administrator to enter the correct email or phone number and invite again.

If the email or phone number is correct and the administrator can find your name in the member list, but it is displayed as Invited, ask the administrator to send a reminder in the Lark Admin Console.

If you still cannot receive the email or SMS notification, it might be because the email or SMS is blocked, or the email or phone SMS cannot receive any messages. Check the email or phone and see if you can find the invitation notification in blocked email or SMS messages.

I followed the procedure that's required to join an organization using an invite code. Why does a message still display to say that I have to wait for approval?

For security reasons, organizations may require administrators to approve new members' joining. If this is the case, you will receive a SMS message or email notification after approval is completed.

Can I join more than one organization?

Yes. You can join multiple organizations with the same phone number or email. To see and switch between the organizations that you join, find and tap the organization's icon in the left navigation bar in the Lark app.

Why does it ask me to scan the correct QR code after I scan the QR code?

It indicates the code you scanned is not an organization's invite QR code. In Lark, there are three types of invite QR codes:

Organization QR codes

Personal QR codes

Group QR codes

The organization QR code page includes clear information of invitation. Confirm the code is an organization QR code before you scan.

What should I do if I receive a notification indicating that the account information already exists within the organization and cannot be added again?

Contact your organization administrator for assistance.

After I change my phone number or email, what should I do if I can't log in to an organization that I joined using an account associated with my previous phone number or email?

If you can't log in, you can submit an account appeal to change the login email or phone number. After the change, you can use the new email or phone number to log in. If you still have problems when logging in, to view the corresponding login email or phone number in the Admin Console. If this email or phone number is no longer in use, you can ask the administrator to change the login phone number. After the change, you can use the new email or phone number to log in.

What should I do to avoid joining or entering the wrong organization? If I join or enter the wrong organization, how can I leave?

Do the following steps to avoid joining or entering the wrong organization:

When you receive an invitation, check the invitation information, and join only after confirming that the information is correct.

If you join the company through an invitation email or text message, when logging in to Lark, make sure to enter the same email or phone number that received the invitation message.

If you join the organization through an organization QR code/organization link, when logging in to Lark, make sure to enter the same email or phone number that is filled in during the invitation stage.

If you have multiple accounts, when logging in to Lark, make sure to select the correct account that you want to log in on the account selection page.

If you join or enter the wrong organization, you can leave the organization by deleting the account, or switch to the correct account by switching accounts.

Can I join an organization using my personal account?

No. Different Lark accounts are independent of each other. When you accept the invitation of an organization by either SMS, QR code, invite code, or link, you'll create a new account under the organization, which is not related to your personal account.

Can I convert an external account to an internal account of an organization?

No. Even if you register both with the same mobile number, your Lark accounts are independent of each other. You can't convert one to the other.
