I. Intro

Version requirement: Lark version 6.2 or above.

You can sign up for a Lark account with your email address or phone number. Afterwards, you can create a Lark organization and collaborate with your team. Or, if you don't need to create an organization for the time being, you can create an Individual Space or join another organization.

II. Steps

Create an organization

If you are opening the Lark app for the first time, click Get Started, enter your email address or phone number, and tap Next.

If you are not opening the Lark app for the first time, enter your email or phone number.

Then, tap Next and enter the verification code.

Enter your profile and organization information. Then, tap Create for Free.

Warning: Region information cannot be modified after submission. Lark will provide corresponding services based on your region and keep required information strictly confidential.

Set your account password and tap Next.

Once the organization has been created, you can finish signing up for your Lark account. You can tap Share Invite Link, Send Email Invitations, or Invite Phone Contacts to invite others to join your organization and work together in Lark. If this isn't necessary for the time being, you can tap Next in the upper-right corner to skip this step. If you want to invite others to join your organization after opening Lark, see Admin | Create departments and add members for more details.

Create an Individual Space

If you are opening the Lark app for the first time, click Get Started, enter your email address or phone number, and tap Next.

If you are not opening the Lark app for the first time, enter your email or phone number.

Then, tap Next and enter the verification code.

Fill out your profile information (including the First name, Last name, and Job title fields) and specify the Region field in the Your organization section.

Warning: Region information cannot be modified after submission. Lark will provide corresponding services based on your region and keep required information strictly confidential.

You don’t need to enter information in the Organization name, Size, and Industry fields. Once you've filled this out, tap Set Up Individual Space. This will automatically fill the Organization name, Size, and Industry fields, but you can still edit this information. If you tap Set Up Individual Space again after changing this information, it will be reset. Once all information has been filled out, tap Create for Free.

Set your account password and tap Next.

Once the Individual Space has been created, sign-up for the Lark account is complete.

Join an organization

If you are opening the Lark app for the first time, click Get Started, enter your email address or phone number, and tap Next.

If you are not opening the Lark app for the first time, enter your email or phone number.

Then, tap Next and enter the verification code.

Tap Or Join an Organization at the bottom of the Create your organization page.

In the Enter Invite Code field, specify your invitation code, and fill in the First name and Last name fields. Then, tap Next.

The invite code is made up of eight letters. Each organization on Lark has its own invite code. Only organization administrators can obtain the invite code (see Day 3: Assign administrator roles and permissions and Admin | Invite or add members to your organization for more details). Invite codes can be shared with organization members through text message or other channels.

Once you've joined the organization, you can finish signing up for your Lark account. For security reasons, some organizations will review joining members, so you'll need to wait to be approved before you can join the organization and finish signing up for your Lark account.

III. FAQs

How many accounts can I create or bind with the same email address or phone number?

You can use the same email or phone number to register or manage multiple Lark accounts. Each time you join or create an organization, a new Lark account is created or bound to that number.

Note: If you’ve registered or bound 10 accounts to the same email or phone number, you’ll only be able to join new organizations—not create new ones or register personal accounts. To create additional accounts, check if any of the existing accounts linked to the email or phone number are no longer needed and can be deleted. When fewer than 10 accounts are linked to the email or phone number, it can be used to create new accounts again.

Can I skip setting a password during registration, and set the password later?

No. You must set your password when you sign up for a Lark account.

Can I register for Lark using a phone number that starts with the Chinese international dialing code (+86)?

No. A message stating "Unable to sign up with Lark from your location" will prompt out if you try to register with a number starting with +86. You can register by email or a supported phone number.

I can't sign up for a Lark account. What should I do?

If you're unable to sign up for a Lark account, it may be due to the following:

Verification code issue: If you can't receive a verification code, see What should I do if I don't receive a verification code when signing up and logging in? for troubleshooting measures.

Security issue: If you get a notification that your email address or phone number can't be used to sign up, this means that it may pose a security risk. Please try signing up with a different email address or phone number.

Are there any differences among the Lark accounts I obtained through the above three methods?

There are no differences in the features and benefits between accounts registered by creating an organization or an Individual Space. However, these types of account do differ to those registered by joining an organization. The specific differences are as follows:

If you choose to create an organization or Individual Space, as an administrator you will be able to invite others to join at any time. You will also be able to collaborate with other members in Lark, and open the Admin Console to manage the organization.

If you choose to join another organization, you will be a non-administrator member of the organization by default, and you won't be able to open the Admin Console or access administrator features. You’ll only be able to access the relevant administrator features once you're added as an administrator by another organization administrator.

However, accounts registered in all three ways will be organization accounts, and you can collaborate with other members of the organization using your account at any time.

How do I sign up for a Lark personal account?

It's recommended that you set up an Individual Space instead by following the steps in the Create an Individual Space section. Once set up, you can use Lark Messenger, Calendar, and Docs. As an administrator of the Individual Space, you can also invite other members to join your space at any time and use Lark Admin Console.

If you don't need to collaborate with an organization, after signing up for an account using any method and logging in to Lark, tap your profile photo and tap Add Account > Personal use (see Add an account for details). Once you've signed up for a personal account, you can use Lark Messenger, Calendar, and Docs. However, you will not be able to invite other members to collaborate with you or use Lark Admin Console.

If you have a lot of team members, need to collaborate with others often, or have high information security requirements, it's recommended that you sign up for an organization account for more features and services.

How do I tell whether my account is a personal account?

Tap your profile photo and see what's displayed under your name. If it says Lark Personal User, you have a personal account. If it says the name of an organization, you have an organization account.

What's the difference between a personal account and an Individual Space?

An Individual Space is like an organization account that temporarily only includes you. If you then want to invite other members to join your Individual Space and collaborate with you, as an administrator you can invite them at any time. You can also use Lark Admin Console. However, with a personal account, you won't be able to invite others to join or use Lark Admin.

How do I exit the sign-up process and then re-register later?

Close the app, and then reopen it to restart the sign-up process.

Can a personal account be upgraded or converted into an organization account, or an organization account be converted into a personal account?

No. Different Lark accounts are independent of each other and can't be converted to each other.

Can I register and use Lark personal and organization accounts at the same time?

Yes. Each Lark account is independent of each other. You can register multiple accounts and use them simultaneously.

Can I create an Individual Space in Lark with a business email?

No, it is only possible to create a company or an organization with a business email. To create an Individual Space, use a personal email address or phone number to register.
