I. Intro
If you fail to install or start Lark on a Windows system, you can try the troubleshooting methods provided in this article to resolve the issue.
Note: The paths and settings described in this article may vary depending on your Windows version. Refer to your system's actual interface for accuracy.
II. Troubleshooting
Issue
Unable to install or launch Lark on a Windows system.
Cause and solution
When installation or startup fails, check for the following issues:
  • Check whether the Lark installation package is damaged because this might cause the installation to fail. If it is damaged, download the installation package again.
  • Check your antivirus software settings and ensure Lark is not being blocked. Remove any restrictions if necessary.
  • Check whether there is enough space on the system disk (C drive) (at least 1 GB of free space is required). You can free up space by deleting unnecessary files on the C drive.
If none of the above resolves the issues, follow the troubleshooting steps below based on your specific scenario.
Scenario 1: Installation failure
If the installation fails, verify that the TEMP and TMP environment variables are correctly configured:
  1. Right-click the Start icon in the lower-left corner of the desktop, select Settings > System > About, then click Advanced system settings to open the System Properties window.
  1. In the System Properties window, click the Advanced tab and select Environment Variables. Locate the TEMP and TMP variables in the list of user variables.

  1. Enter %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp in the search bar in the lower-left corner of the desktop. Press Enter to open the directory.
  1. Compare the actual path of the Temp folder with the values of the TEMP and TMP variables in the Environment Variables window.
  • If the values are the same, it means your environment variables are set correctly. You can log in to the Lark official website and click the Headphone icon in the lower-right corner to contact Support for help.
  • If the values are different, proceed with the steps below.
  1. In the list of user variables, double-click the TEMP and TMP variables to open the editing window:
  • Update the TEMP variable value to: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp
  • Update the TMP variable value to: %homepath%\AppData\Local\Temp
  1. Click OK to close the Environment Variables window.
  1. Install Lark again.
If the issue persists, you can log in to the Lark official website and click the Headphone icon in the lower-right corner to contact Support. You can also email Lark customer service at support@larksuite.com.
Scenario 2: Startup failure
If clicking the Lark icon cannot open the app and no other error message appears, reset the Winsock directory as follows:
  1. Enter CMD in the search bar in the lower-left corner of the desktop.
  1. Locate Command Prompt in the search results, right-click it, and select Run as administrator.
  1. Run netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt to reset Winsock.
  1. Restart your computer.
If the issue persists, you can log in to the Lark official website and click the Headphone icon in the lower-right corner to contact Support. You can also email Lark customer service at support@larksuite.com.
