I. Intro
Lark video meetings offer various effects to enrich the meeting experience.
- Virtual background: You can replace your video meeting background to solve the awkwardness of having a messy background in formal meetings, establish a professional image with a name card in cross-departmental communication, or promote the meeting theme and company culture with a customized background.
- Avatar: You can use an avatar to protect your privacy and create a relaxed meeting atmosphere.
- Touch-up and filters: You can set filter effects for portraits and freely adjust various parameters.
II. Steps
Set virtual background
You can use the virtual background functionality to blur the area outside the portrait, select a system-provided virtual background, or click the
icon to upload your own image as the meeting's virtual background.
Note: This function must be turned on by the administrator. For more details, see Manage virtual background settings.

Before the meeting
Method 1: Click Meetings in the Lark navigation bar, then on the
Settings icon > Effects > Virtual Background.
Method 2: In the pre-meeting preview page, click the
icon next to Camera and select Virtual Background.
Method 3: In the pre-meeting preview page, click the Virtual Background icon in your own view.

During the meeting
Method 1: Click the ^ icon next to the Camera icon and select Virtual Background.

Method 2: Click the ··· More icon on the toolbar, and select Effects > Virtual Background.

Choose an avatar
If you set your avatar before a meeting, it will take effect in all subsequent meetings. If you set it during a meeting, it will only take effect for that meeting.
Note: This feature requires the administrator to enable avatars. For more details, see Manage avatar settings.

Turn on touch-up and filters
You can set touch-up and filters for their portraits, and adjust various parameters.
Before the meeting
Method 1: Click Meetings in the Lark navigation bar, then the
Settings icon > Effects > Touch-up or Filters.
Method 2: On the pre-meeting preview page, click the
icon next to Camera and select Touch-up or Filters.
Method 3: On the pre-meeting preview page, click the Virtual Background icon in your own view and navigate to Touch-up or Filters.

More icon on the toolbar, and select Effects > Touch-up or Filters.

In Touch-up, click Auto to enable the automatic settings. Click Customize to manually adjust each parameter — Smooth, Eye, Shape, and Lipstick.
Note: If you customize the touch-up parameters, the configuration will be remembered on your current device.

In addition to touch-up, you can also use filters to enhance your video. After selecting any filter, drag the slider in the preview window to adjust its intensity.
Note: If you adjust the filter's intensity, the configuration will be remembered on your current device and account, but changing the device or account will turn the setting back to default.

Set effects permissions
Meeting organizers can set in advance whether participants are allowed to use virtual backgrounds or avatars.
When scheduling a meeting or creating an event, click Settings, or click the
Video Meeting Settings icon.
In the settings page's Effects section, you can select or deselect Use virtual background or Use avatar. If participants aren't allowed to use a virtual background or avatar, you will receive a notification if you try.
