I. Intro
Notice: To add external contacts, your administrator must enable external communications through the Lark Admin Console.
You can add people outside of your organization as external contacts to communicate and collaborate with them in Lark. You can also delete external contacts if you no longer wish to talk with them.
Note: You can communicate with members within your organization without adding them as contacts.
Important: If you add or communicate with external users outside of your organization, any documents or information shared, including your personal information, may be shared with or accessed by such external users and processed on servers outside of the country you are located, to the extent necessary to facilitate such communication or access. In such situations, the privacy policy of the external organization will apply with respect to the processing of such personal information. Contact your organization administrator if you have any questions about the above information.
II. Steps
Add external contacts
There are three methods for adding external contacts:
Method 1: Click your profile photo in the upper-right corner. Select My QR Code and Profile Link, and share your QR code or link with the person you wish to add.
After the person scans the QR or clicks the link, they can follow the prompts to join Lark and become your external contact.

Method 2: Click the
New icon above the search bar and select Add External Contact. Search for the person's phone number or email, then add them. After the person approves the request, they will appear in Contacts > External Contacts.

Method 3: Go to Contacts > External Contacts > Add External Contact. Search for the person's phone number or email, then add them. After the person approves the request, they will appear in Contacts > External Contacts.

Note: If the person you're adding has a Lark account, they must go to Settings > Privacy and select the options below Allow people to find me by and Allow people to add me by, so that they can receive your request. If you can't find the person, ask them to check whether these options are selected.

Add an alias and note for your contact
You can add an alias and note for your contact. After you add an alias, it will appear in your Contacts list, on the Lark Messenger page, on the contact's profile card, and in other locations. After you add a note, it will appear when you open the contact's profile card.
- In Contacts, click the contact to open their profile card. Alternatively, in Messenger, click the contact's profile photo in a chat to open their profile card.
- Click Edit in the Alias and Notes field.
- Enter the alias and/or note(s) in the pop-up. You can also upload a business card or image if needed.
- Click Save for the changes to take effect.

Delete external contacts
- Click Contacts in the navigation bar and select External Contacts.
- Click an external contact to open their profile card. Click the More icon in the upper-right corner and select Delete Contact.
